I grew up on Phillip island, it was a small community, opportunity’s to make something of yourself were few and far unless you wanted to be a tradie, I learnt quick that knowing how to defend yourself would keep you out of trouble.
My dad got me started in judo, it was an old past time of his from his days in Scotland , after I was mucking around in and out of school he thought it would be a good idea for me to fight inside of a dojo instead of on the street, after my first class I was hooked & won multiple state and national championships in judo.
At the age of 18 I had my first pro fight, back then the amateur scene wasn’t as big as it is now in aus and the only opportunities that came up was to fight pro, I won that fight in 50 seconds with a TKO & again was hooked.
My biggest motivation is to make it to the UFC.The opportunity to fight on the world stage would be incredible, it would help to set all of my family up, I would love to inspire and help others in the process and use the platform to do so.
I came into contact with the VEX team after my management Elysian set up a video
call with Ryan and Louie ,I got along really well with the boys and they held all the same values and ideas that I respect and live by , so it was a match made and it’s been a great relationship, they’re product is top notch, the equipment is comfy and it lasts, it’s not your typical cheap glove or shinpad that lasts a couple months before you have to throw them out.
My personal favourite is the 7oz MMA gloves, they mould to the hand amazingly and are really comfortable for sparring and mitt work, the apparel is comfy and looks awesome, with a huge range to choose from you’d be stupid to go past VEX.
